Mean

I should not be surprised hearing my words being said back to me.  It's never the less a strange feeling (sobering, too). 

Annabel was talking in a impatient, stern voice (raised voice as well).  I told her not to talk in a mean manner.
Her reply:  "I wasn't talking mean.  I just said things a bit louder."

Guess I won't be using that line any more.  It's hard to keep my temper and voice and tone in check.
